'Manpower losing out to technology' reports influential survey

A survey by Frost and Sullivan of 355 end users and channel players looking to attend IFSEC, the world’s largest annual security event has revealed, amongst many things, the fact that the manned guarding industry is under pressure from reductions in budget as technology continues to dominate centre stage.

Stephen Smith, Sales and Marketing Director at ISM, inventors of Genesys and the sponsor of the Intelligent Integration Zone at IFSEC 2010 and 2011 endorses this research commenting, "The old style security systems are based on the need to deploy sufficient men to handle the risk, but once a security guard has walked past a line, they become vulnerable again and a momentary lapse of attention can be all that’s needed for an intruder to gain access. It’s our role as pioneers of holistic integrated security management systems to protect people and institutions and to continually be one step ahead in the competitive marketplace. If the launch of Genesys 2 is anything to go by, there is a huge demand for our systems. When we launched Genesys 2 at the Intelligent Integration Zone, nothing could have prepared us for the rapturous reception it received. Hundreds of people from all corners of the globe, all levels of seniority attended the launch, each one keen to interact with the system. Several decision-makers expressed the desire to be amongst the first to adopt Genesys 2. As a consequence we have arranged many meetings."

Smith is quick to point out that man and technology can still work very well together, commenting, "We mustn't forget that the operator benefits from technology. Better surveillance and a lack of human contact enables him to make the right decision as opposed to one based on emotion and old data. Technologies such as video content analytics and online collection are now fundamental. Technology is never off sick, never has a bad day, it reports in seconds and it evokes the correct response."

The official world launch of Genesys 2 is taking place at IFSEC 2011 at The Intelligent Integration Zone

Genesys 2 has been developed out of ISM's stable of pioneering and truly groundbreaking integrated security management systems. Our first front end system was completed in 1991 and integrated 3000 plus alarms over four control centres with CCTV, public address, intercoms and staff paging systems. In the last 20 years we have developed more advanced systems with the original Genesys Classic product being the culmination of many years experience.

Today Genesys Classic is regarded in all sectors as the most advanced system available. For example it has been used in projects including; the EMEA control centre for State Street Bank, ACSA to secure the South African Airports for the 2010 Football World Cup, Wolverhampton University, Standard Life, Birmingham Hospital, Her Majesty’s Prisons, many Police Authorities and central control for Brugge Nationaal.

Genesys Classic has been used in some of the world’s largest and most complex security projects. Robust technical evaluation against any of our competitors – an unblemished 100% success rate to date.

Genesys 2 is the most exciting development to be launched within the integrated security market for decades and is the culmination of our 20 years experience in designing these systems. Crucially we have actively sought the feedback of operators and security managers, building a detailed understanding of their requirements, incorporating these into the innovative design that will be revealed at IFSEC.

"Genesys Classic is still a pioneer in security control room systems, leading the market by several years. Whenever Genesys Classic is technically evaluated against any other competitive security control room system it always wins hands down. Competitors are still trying to catch up with Genesys Classic let alone Genesys 2. I am confident that we are at least six years ahead of the market." David Jenkins, Managing Director, ISM

The sophisticated system takes front end control to a new level whilst maintaining our legendary ease of use. Genesys 2 takes a new and refreshing look at control room management and the new era of centralised control. Click here for more information on Genesys 2 or contact our offices for a demonstration.

ISM Leading the Changing Face of Security... Loughborough Estate Concierge, Lambeth, London

Graphical security control room management pioneers ISM have delivered a 'world first' with the implementation of a full IP network with CCTV and audio dispersed concierge system for five blocks of flats; part of the Loughborough Estate in Lambeth London.

Stephen Smith, ISM Sales and Marketing Director says, "The human resources and the costs to manage all five blocks which are located on both sides of a very busy main road were staggering. For every person working a shift, there had to be another able to take over at a moment’s notice and to fill the gaps caused by holidays and absenteeism." The tenant management board knew exactly what they wanted - through air links with no hard wire. Finding a partner that could meet their statement of requirements proved to be onerous. Working closely with Pinnacle, the Design Consultants and Alphatrack Installers, ISM designed a state-of-the-art digital audio-based system with Genesys™ as the control room management system and Ultimate 3000™ as the door entry system. "Only one person now controls the security of the five blocks," says Smith. "This is because the security of each building can now be controlled from any one of the five concierge stations." Introducing "Fearless Fred" New Sales Executive ISM

Yorkshire bred Fred Keery joins ISM with a wealth of experience and knowledge of the security industry. He launched his career as a fabricator, engineer and partner in the family business. He later enjoyed success with Thyssen Krupp, Multimetals and more recently as Sales Director of Cronapress Ltd.

ISM Preview Genesys 2 at IFSEC

Although only a fraction of its functionality was on show, Genesys 2 created a real buzz on the ISM sponsored Intelligent Integration Zone at IFSEC. This pioneering software which is currently patent pending is scheduled for its World launch in 2011. Visitors to the ISM stand were in for a surprise with a first-time preview.

David Jenkins, Managing Director ISM commented, "Genesys 2 uses the latest Microsoft .NET technologies and utilizes the enterprise class offering of the Microsoft SQL Server. It already has patents applied for its unique facilities. For example, it has been designed with dynamic architecture which substantially enhances the scalability and reliability of the system. Its unique architecture ensures that the drivers for the integration of the security systems connected to Genesys can be gracefully scaled."

David Jenkins concludes, "Visitors given a preview of Genesys 2 were amazed at the graphics and ease of mapping. It is now a case of 'watch this space' because with the launch of Genesys 2 scheduled for 2011, next year’s Intelligent Integration Zone is going to be even better”.
