In a recent survey of corporate security people, 40% of responders revealed they felt that security was viewed as “a grudge purchase.” It’s a view that John Waite, Business Development Director ISM has been on the receiving end of many times throughout his 20 year career. “Sometimes buying security is viewed through a very narrow lens by decision-making teams who treat it in much the same way as they treat their purchase of commercial cleaning services – as a commodity purchase with the lowest priced bidder winning irrespective of the quality of the ensuing delivery. But, with the growing threat of organised crime and terrorism there has never been a more important time for any organisation large or small, local or global to protect its people and its assets.”

Waite believes however that it is the responsibility of the PSIM provider to educate organisations with the ‘grudge purchase’ mindset that an investment in a PSIM system can actually yield significant annual savings, commenting, “An investment in Genesys leads to cost savings across the board ranging from a reduction in manpower and crime to the ability through video and audit trails to verify breaches in security in a matter of minutes not days with evidence of an actual, not a theoretical event. Genesys has been successfully implemented with several major police forces throughout the UK. We have, pardon the pun evidence to show that post installation each force has made a six figure saving.”
