A Perpetuity survey of groups in the private security sector has revealed a shift in spending in the last two years from guards to PSIM systems. “We have witnessed this migration of spend from people to systems in the last 15 years,” Says David Jenkins, Managing Director ISM. “There are many reasons why it will continue. With a system like Genesys for example, management can make decisions that are not reliant on the flawed judgement of a lower paid member of their team. They can programme contingency planning with tick lists for staff that will ensure they are following the correct procedures to the absolute letter, achieved through using the audit trails that are provided by the Genesys system.

With the downturn in the economy and the increase in technology available to criminals, any organisation relying on manpower alone to protect their sites and systems is vulnerable. Is remote monitoring safer? You’ve only got to look at the recent Securitas money incident to answer that.”
