Cotton Gardens, a social housing development in Lambeth comprises of three blocks of flats, Ebeneezer, Hurley and Fairford.  When the existing concierge system needed replacing having reached the tipping point of being too costly to maintain, ISM was approached.
Grant Jenkins, Technical Sales Executive, ISM explains, “We were awarded this project because our systems are incredibly cost effective on many levels. They are robust, easy to service and we keep spare parts for many, many years. Crucially our systems are also scalable. What we build today  can be upgraded with ease in the future.”
ISM’s world leading Genesys software was installed. Genesys facilitates the integration of many types and manufacture of third-party equipment including CCTV, access control systems, intercoms, public address and paging systems – all from one holistic security management system (or PSIM as these systems are increasingly referred to nowadays). For door entry, ISM’s Ultimate audio exchange was installed, including telephone entry and disabled refuge.
At the heart of this project were a number of environmentally responsible initiatives. For example, ISM designed bespoke chassis plates so that the existing cabinets could be reused and, where possible the existing wiring infrastructure was retained. “Reusing should always be considered as the ethical and environmental alternative to replacing everything without question and of course it minimises disruption”, adds Grant.
And the system is incredibly simple to use…
“With just the one handset, the concierge controls the door entry to each one of the flats in the 3 blocks and the disabled refuge. Integration with CCTV adds another important layer of security,” says Grant. “The system is simple to operate, built for future expansion and environmentally responsible. When you compare the lifecycle costs and the quality and reliability of our equipment, ISM is always at the top of the list.”
